Q: What should I do if I witness an automobile accident?

A: The first thing that you should do is to call 911 immediately. Next, try to make the injured person(s) as comfortable as possible until medical help can arrive. It is important that you not move anyone who has been injured because this may cause otherwise minor injuries to becoming more severe. Because you saw the accident occur, your viewpoint will be extremely important and you may be required to provide a statement to the police or even testify in a court of law. If at all possible, write down the events that unfolded while they are still fresh in your mind.
