Q: I was on my way to a company function when a deer hit my car and caused a considerable amount of damage. Because this was my personal automobile and not my company’s, I understand that my insurance will be used to cover the costs associated with repairing the damages. I would like to know who is obligated to pay the deductible?

A: Even though you were on your way to a company function, the responsibility is yours. The reason is because your company is not responsible for acts that are beyond their control, which is the case when the deer hit your car. This is a good example of why it is so important to have automobile insurance.
