What happens when a couple from a state that recognizes common law marriages moves to a state that does not recognize such marriages?

If a couple from a state that recognizes common law marriages moves to a state that doesn't recognize such marriages, the new state will very likely accept the couple as married. For example, if a couple from Pennsylvania, state that recognizes common law marriages, moves to California, state that doesn't recognize such marriages, the couple will be considered married in California provided that the couple were validly married under the common law marriage system while residing in Pennsylvania.
